About the coach

Inês Ramalhão – believes design, especially with holistic and systemic approach, is the tool that drives change,

Why this topic?

In our interconnected and complex world, striving for a more equitable and sustainable future means confronting deeply rooted, systemic issues. This requires us to move beyond linear thinking and even human-centred perspectives: we must embrace holistic approaches that include multi-stakeholder perspectives: humans, planet, and systems, transcending the boundaries between human and non-human entities. This is where systemic thinking and design come into play: to navigate the intricacies of whole systems rather than focusing solely on isolated parts.

We’ll explore the surfaces of systems, and why embracing systemic perspectives can help us collectively understand the complexities that shape our world, and discover pathways to meaningful change.

For Whom?

  • Particularly relevant for the design community
  • For people who are driving innovation and change across organisations focusing on public domain, general services, healthcare, public transport, etc
  • Everyone who is interested in this topic and wants to hear more about it

What will be covered?

  • Our views in the area of systemic design:

  • Linear thinking vs. Systemic thinking
  • Combining systems thinking into our already familiar design process

What will be the key learnings?

In this session we invite you to delve into the implications of embracing systemic perspectives, to move away from linear thinking and embrace the complexity of our challenges, to ensure better and intentionally designed futures.
