Make most of your time(r)

We’ve had some quality time together. Now it’s up to you: make most of your time with these time related hacks and games.

1. Save some screen time

Okay, this one is easy. But we hate the UI on the good old screen time manager. And it’s so quiet! How about setting a little “social media” time window. Let everyone around you know when it is time to get to work! It worked for our colleague Boris ( although his timer kept going off around the office so we had to put a stop to it).

2. Pomodoro

Use the Pomodoro technique to build focus and getting stuff done! How it works:
  1. Choose a single task you will focus on and write it down.
  2. Set the timer to 25 minutes.
  3. Work on the task until the timer rings and put a checkmark on your paper.
  4. Take a short 5 minute break.
  5. Work for another 25 minutes.
  6. After 3-4 work periods of 25 minutes, take a longer 20-30 minute break.

3. Do the Crazy eight

What if I told you you need 8 minutes to come up with the wildest ideas? Fold an A2 paper into 8 rectangles. Each rectangle will be a canvas for a fresh idea. Set a timer for 8 minutes and start ideating using 1 minute per square. Ready for some variation? After each minute you hand down the paper to the person next to you! Have fun and don’t be critical. It’s only 8 minutes.

4. Rapid research

With your team do a 15 minute panel research. Think of someone that you can call or approach right now. You get 15 minutes to interview that person on industry trends, their view on your service or what they like about competitors. After 15 minutes collect all insights on a big idea wall. Set the timer and start gathering insights!

5. Make the world a bit better

Oke, we won’t go thát far. But us at Koos do like to be conscious of how we consume. And time can be a great measurement tool. How about turning down your time in the shower? Set the thimer for 6 minutes in the shower. Can you go shorter? Can you get to 3 or even 2 minutes? It’s a nice challenge! And if you shower in the morning: the bell is an extra wake up call. 😉

6. Time bulldog

Are you stuck in meetings all day? Checking your watch to see if you can make it to lunch? Most meetings do not have to last as long*. Use your timer and set the time to 5 minutes before the end of the meeting. The big red egg will draw some attention! And you don’t have to interrupt the meeting; the timer will do it for you. Wrap up, come to an end. Use it and see the magic happen!

*Try setting your default meeting time to 20 min or 45 minutes.
